How To Make A Chocolate Cake In 40 Seconds

If you have a sweet tooth like me, this recipe is perfect for those ‘I can’t be bothered to go to the shops to buy chocolate‘ times and is super quick and easy to whip up after a meal. There are thousands of online recipes to make a mug cake. I decided to try my own version with a little inspiration from Pinterest. It’s so simple, I ended up making two in the space of an hour.

Melt 1 tablespoon of butter inside a ramekin dish
Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of white sugar
Throw in a few drops of vanilla extract
A pinch of salt for added crunch
Stir the contents all together
Add 1 egg yolk to the mixture
Stir in 3 tablespoons of plain flour
Finally, drop in some chocolate chips

Microwave the mixture for 40 seconds on high and you will start to smell the sweet aroma of cake waft through the kitchen. Depending on what volt your microwave is, you might have to give or take a couple of seconds. The idea is to experiment and find out what works for you. Make sure it is thoroughly cooked by dipping in a spoon. Be careful though – the dish will be extra hot so it’s always safe to throw on a dollop of ice cream to cool it down. Y’know, just to be safe of course…
