Five Little Pieces Of Happiness In January

For me personally, January has always been the month of positivity. This particularly means indulging in the little things that make me happy. Ticking items off my to-do lists, taking bubble baths at 7pm and catching up on all of my favourite TV series are just a few of the activities I do – all which make me feel like my day has been rather successful. I think it’s super important and healthy to recognise the feeling of contentment. After all, we all work hard, so why not do something that makes you feel revitalised and happy?

Cosmopolitan and CowshedInstead of staring at my phone from the moment I get home until I fall into bed, I’ve made a conscious effort to sit on the sofa after demolishing a plate of nutritious food and pulling out a magazine to encourage myself to read more. Taking some time to wind down for the evening is so important for me as I never like to go to sleep with a hundred things buzzing around my head. I’ve started scribbling in my blogger journal more, planning blog posts and making myself a priority by treating myself to some luxurious handcreams and bath products from time to time. Having ‘me time’ has worked wonders for my stress levels and productivity.

Pretty TshirtAnyone who knows me knows that I spend most of my time thinking about my next meal. I’m excited to jump back into food blogging as it’s taken a slight dip since the new year. I did, however, recently come across this Tshirt first on Pinterest and I think this was made for me. Revamping my wardrobe has become a top priority for 2016 as I seem to live in the same 3 pairs of jeans and 10 tops all year… I had a little browse online and decided to throw this into my online basket and click purchase. I don’t regret it for one second!

Krispy KremeWhat better way to cure a cold than picking up a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I’ve been bringing a couple to work with me each day for an afternoon break with a big cup of tea – the days seem to fly by! My absolute favourite is the Reese’s Cup doughnut which is filled with peanut butter… my dream! A box costs around £12 and to be perfectly honest, I’d buy a box each day if I was allowed to.

The amount of Facebook statuses I’ve updated in my lifetime in connection with bubble baths is more than likely horrifying. But is it possible to have a job where you lay in a bubble bath all day and get paid for it? If there is, please link me! My boyfriend must think strange things about me as I’m borderline addicted to bubble baths and loving the feeling of being squeaky clean. I’m slowly wading through my stack of bath products that I received for Christmas and I love the feeling of letting the stresses of the day float away. I’m almost certain I was a mermaid in my former life…

It’s back! Me, like every other girl on the plant has more than likely binge watched PLL in matter of weeks. I love finding new and interesting TV series to watch (Making a Murderer, Louis Theroux anyone?). The TV show is based on a group of girls being harassed by an unknown identity that haunts and stalks them through their life at high school. My favourite character is Spencer as she’s the tough cookie of the group (she’s got a fringe which I adore as I’m the only person out of my friends who still has a fringe). Warning: PLL is certainly not for boys – it’s for girls who enjoy cheesy American dramas. It’s been a very productive but relaxing month – let’s just hope this continues. What have you been loving lately?

  1. Aren’t donuts ALWAYS a source of happiness? And also that Cowshed lotion is THE BEST — I use it religiously every winter!

  2. oh my gosh those donuts are making me feel seriously hungry!

I also need to give my wardrobe a good clear out, I swear I only wear 40% of what’s in there….

  3. Oh please take me shopping with you, I love to upgrade my wardrobe :))) I’ve started watching Bates Motel, a series I’ve been dying to watch for a few months now. I can’t wait till the days get longer again and it gets lighter every evening. The darkness makes me lazy and sleepy so when I get home I’m usually already ready for bed.

    1. I can’t wait until it stays light at 5pm so I can leave work and take pictures! Hehe! Miss you loads!

  4. Lovely post and I totally agree about January being a month of positivity!
I try and read in the evenings, it is a good way to relax and it means I take some time away from the screen which is always important! x

    1. Hi Beth! Thanks for your lovely comment. I glad I’m not the only person who loves to snuggle up on the sofa and read. I’m just getting bored of getting home and staring at my phone constantly. Everyone has a phone and everyone checks instagram / facebook now and again, but trying to break away from the habit of doing it every hour!
