Five Productive Ways To Spend My Day Off

We tend to forget how important it is to take care of ourselves and by this I mean both physically and mentally. January seemed like such a long month, so I felt it was only fair to book some time off work today to have a little ‘me time’. As much as I love being around people (I mean, I work in communications so talking to people is kinda my job) – sometimes it’s healthy to not have to respond to anyone at a deadline. Since I am all over the concept of self love, self care and doing whatever the hell you want to do, I’m also a firm believer in doing whatever it is that makes you happy. Here’s a few little things I’ve been doing today…

Five Productive Ways To Spend My Day Off

Healthy(ish) breakfast

As a Food Blogger, I’m obviously expected to show the entire world what goes into my gob at least once a week. Or at least try and make the effort to make my creations look tantalisingly delicious. I didn’t fancy normal toast this morning so I threw together this slab of golden perfection. I slathered the toast in Nutella and carefully placed some bananas on top – finally dribbling (another) spoonful of chocolate over the top. This tasted even better than it looked and I had 1 of my 5 a day! Hoorah for tasty fuel food!

Blogging and Pinterest

A morning cuppa means nothing without a healthy dose of Pinterest and blog searching. I want to push the boundaries this year when it comes to my content and have some exciting things in the pipeline. Not many people realise how time consuming a blog can be. It’s not as simple as just typing some text, there’s organising, layouts, editing, blog proofing and most annoyingly – waiting for natural sunlight. I’ve been waiting for this day off for a while so I can take some pictures without it being pitch black outside…

Charlotte Tilbury Organising my make up

I now know what it feels like to get paid a monthly salary. It’s been FOREVER (4 years) since it’s happened so I had every reason to go a little crazy this month with my first pay cheque. I’ve vowed to add to my Charlotte Tilbury, Bobbi Brown and Dior make up collection this year – even if this means I bleed myself dry the first week after pay day. I am completely and utterly obsessed with my Dolce Vita CT palette – it’s a literal box of gold and the pigment is stunning. I recently treated myself to some blonde highlights and the most beautiful lipstick in the world – Cochella Coral also from Charlotte Tilbury. There’s plenty more where that came from!

Glitter Oil Looking after my skin

My Scottish bestie bought me this little jar of wonders for Christmas. Every time I use it, I look at myself in the mirror and can see tiny specs of the gold gleaming on my face, body and hair. It’s my little pick-me-up for the morning and I stride out of the house feeling like a supermodel. Huile Prodigieuse is a dry oil with a unique super-activated formula combining 30% Precious Plant Oils and Vitamin E to nourish, repair and soften face, body and hair in a single gesture. Have you ever tried this product before, what do you think of it?

Shopping Ebay DepopDeclutter my wardrobe

After my breakfast, skin care routine, make up organising and blogging, I finally had some time to sit down and sell some items of clothing online. I’m not a big fan of clutter, so if I feel an item of clothing could benefit someone else instead of sitting at the bottom of my cupboard, I always try to pass it on. I’m a huge fan of both eBay and Depop and spend hours online searching through other people’s junk (what could also be someone else’s treasure!) I’ve sold a huge amount of clothes today, which means extra money to buy some more make up. These are just a few things I’ve done today on my day off, and I’m now about to hit a luxury spa with my other half. What do you get up to on your days off work?

  2. I really want that nuxe oil it seems gorgeous, and that toast looks to die for I could totally gobble that up right now xxx

    1. Hey Jess, thanks for your comment 🙂 The Nuxe oil is so beautiful, makes you shine like a golden goddess. I think it’s around £20 for a bottle, so it’s a touch on the pricey side but so worth it. Come and have food with me sometime, we can share ;0 x

  3. Fab post! It is really tricky trying to sort out a job and blogging and, when you do get that time off, it really helps to spend it productively. I love a day of blogging at the weekend – if it’s sunny I run for my camera as fast as I can!

    1. Hey Rach, you’re certainly not wrong there. It was my first bit of annual leave this year so I chose to use it wisely. I’m finding running a blog and working a full time job to be stressful, but also so rewarding if you do it right. And tell me about it, natural light for photographs is like gold dust these days.
