It’s been a hot minute since Emmavictoriastokes.com has posted anything food related, so I wanted to make a come back and start off by sharing an absolute banger that has marched right into Zumhof Biergarten, Digbeth. It’s good to see hospitality open again to the public and Meat Meets Bun is a sure fine way to spend your weekend.
After an agonising year of stop-start roll outs of new restaurants and pubs across Birmingham, it’s great to see new some food faces on the scene since hospitality has now fully reopened. Zumhof Biergarten, located in Digbeth, is a Food Märkt that is proud to showcase some of Brum’s finest food traders. The large outdoor seating area and indoor sections are perfect for people watching, scoffing good food and drinking. Walk-ins are available or you can easily reserve your spot via the website. Meat Meats Bun, run by Chris (@thefatfoodieuk) has not long launched his new burger joint and heck, does it hit differently.
Throwing out the goods alongside Brum’s hottest joints Bonehead, Rudy’s Pizza; alongside Schwënker (think brats served five different ways alongside fries and poutine) and a newly added OSO Mexican Street Food, there’s so much to love about Digbeth right now. After taking advantage of our first baby-free afternoon in MONTHS, I organised a 2-hour slot at Zumhof for Josh and I to just sit and have food, adult conversation and beers. Digbeth has a chilled vibe, perfect for weekend boozy brunches.
In all, the food was beautiful and came out swiftly. We had been there around 15-20 minutes when the food arrived. There ain’t no messing around here. I ate the Black & Blue (£9.75) and doubled up for £3. The burger prides itself on beef fat patties, black pudding crumb, stilton, American cheese, chilli jam, pickle relish, black garlic mayo on a sesame brioche. The tots (£4) were bathing in a gooey melted cheese and would definitely say to order some with your meal. The smiley faces were crunchy, soft and just so beautiful. Also keep an eye out for their Pickled Onion Space Raider Potato Faces sprinkled with crushed Space Raiders and a cheese sauce to dip them in.
If you’re looking for an epic burger in Birmingham to fill your gut, go here. You won’t regret it. Order your food and drinks via scanning a QR code at the table for a covid-secure experience. Not staying long? Click + Collect your food via their app. Below are a few photos of Digbeth I snapped whilst there. More new food reviews coming soon. It’s good to be back! More food reviews here.
