One Night At Aktar Islam’s New Restaurant – Opheem

Ever since visiting Birmingham’s Indian restaurant Lasan in early 2015, I knew great things were going to come of Aktar Islam as an award-winning English chef. After producing so many culinary delights at other places; fast forward a few years and Aktar has now opened another restaurant by the name of Opheem, located on Summer Row in Birmingham City Centre. Before visiting at the start of July, I’d heard nothing but praise for the place, and with very, very good reason. Josh and I visited with no expectations and with a quick glimpse of the menu, I was looking forward to a meal that I didn’t have to blog about. Oh how we laughed,…

    Las Iguanas Birmingham Food Review

Latin American restaurant Las Iguanas landed a top spot on Birmingham Temple Street earlier this year. The vibrant eatery boasts incredibly strong cocktails, a wide variety of flavours and a vibrant, carnival vibe. As soon as you walk through the door, it makes you feel as though you’re on holiday; it’s a fantastic atmosphere to be inside. I’ve previously visited the Las Iguanas in the Arcadian, Birmingham but I can safely say I rate this one more. I was invited to try their fresh new menu a la carte menu and the drinks that come along with it. There’s also a separate lunch, and bottomless brunch option which should really be…

Bar + Block Steakhouse – Birmingham

It was a Tuesday evening when I walked into Bar + Block, Birmingham. I really needed a girls night out and wanted to eat a big piece of meat and drink red wine, so my pal Lorna was the perfect person to invite along. The restaurant is situated on Waterloo Street, on the corner of ‘Pigeon Park’. It’s actually located inside the Premier Inn, but don’t let this put you off as it has a separate entrance for public use. When walking through the door, the server quickly caught my eye and asked if we had a reservation. A tiny blip as I was invited for reviewing purposes but they didn’t…

Escape Hunt Birmingham – Can You Escape?

Before you even think about clicking the ‘x’ on the corner of this post, I want you to know this brief little blog is completely spoiler free. So fear not, I won’t be ruining the experience for you if you decide to book in. So allow me to tell you a tiny bit more about Escape Hunt Birmingham – one of the city’s newest escape rooms that has recently opened up at The Square. This place is positioned around the corner from the Square Peg pub if you’re from around these ends. I’ve had the pleasure of playing a few other escape rooms in my time, but I can honestly say…

The White Swan Edgbaston Food Review – Birmingham

Last month, I was contacted by the lovely PR team at McCann to see if I would like to visit The White Swan, Edgbaston after celebrating their new refurb. I never had the chance to visit before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect when walking in through the door. I live in Stirchley, Birmingham and the drive to The White Swan on a Monday night took us about 20 minutes in rush hour traffic, so it’s pleasant to know it’s not too far away for my next visit. Everything from the luxurious sofas to the roaring log fire places screams elegance and sophistication. You wouldn’t actually believe it’s a…
