Maribel Restaurant – Fine Dining In Birmingham

This is a blog I’ve struggled to write. Not because I’m unsure what to say – but because I don’t think my words will effectively portray the exquisite experience we had when eating the six course menu at the start of February. Oh Maribel, you tease. Maribel quite simply showcases how excellent fine dining in Birmingham really is. Replacing what used to be Edmunds, award-winning chef, Richard Turner’s new restaurant Maribel in Brindley Place has a gorgeous, sleek candle-lit setting and the food is just phenomenal. The kitchen rotates its menus frequently and creates new dishes each week. Instead of going into detail about each one that we tried (as…

Salt & Earth Chicken & Bao Bun Pop Up: 1000 Trades, Jewellery Quarter

THERE’S FRIED CHICKEN – AND THERE’S DELECTABLE FRIED CHICKEN FROM MONTH-LONG POP UP ‘ SALT & EARTH‘ RESIDING IN 1000 TRADES, JEWELLERY QUARTER. SERVING MONDAY – SATURDAY. Every now and again, I crave tender chicken pieces with salty-crisp skin. Luckily for Brum’s food lovers, Salt & Earth’s menu this month showcases a fantastic chicken menu to salivate over until month end. I headed there recently with food blogger Bite Your Brum for a lunch time treat. I hadn’t seen the menu beforehand, but was intrigued after hearing how much my boyfriend (who works just a few doors down) wanted to visit. So naturally I was curious to see what all the fuss was…

Summer House Bar & Grill – New Opening In Hall Green Birmingham

On the outside, the Summer House Bar and Grill is pink. Very pink. It sticks out like a sore thumb when coming to the busy crossing on Shaftmoor Lane. You can’t miss it. A number of restaurants (and pubs) across Birmingham make it their mission to serve mixed grill platters. From experience, some are bland and others, rather tasty. I’m happy to say The Summer House Bar & Grill grill falls under the latter part but for me personally, it’s the location of the place that I’m struggling with. Their simplistic menu offering focuses predominantly on the true essence of Indian food and they offer a large quantity of veggie…

Go Large: Fluffy American Pancakes Recipe

It’s February 12th, a marker of my one year anniversary as a freelancer. To celebrate this momentous occasion, I’m cooking exactly the same recipe as I did last year – a stack full of deliciously fluffy American pancakes. They are stupidly easy to make and can be created using your standard kitchen cupboard ingredients. The overall process takes around 10 minutes to prep, and around 15 minutes to cook, including the bacon. Veggie options can be added if needed. This recipe can easily feed up to four people. OR one person if you like breakfast. So let’s get to it. What You Will Need 3 large eggs200g self-raising flour1 tbsp…
