It’s felt like a lifetime since I last did one of these posts. The weeks seem to be flying by and before we know it, we’ll all be dropping the ‘C word’. Yeah, Christmas. August has been quite a busy month, both personally and for blogging purposes. I just haven’t really sat down and typed it up, or maybe I’ve become lazy over the summer holidays. Let me fill you in on some of the things I’ve been doing over the last couple of weeks.
Last month I visited Three Church Road for a birthday event. It was wonderful and I’ve visited many times before. On the night they gave us bloggers a complimentary spa day pass, so I made use of mine one Thursday morning. As expected the pool area, which is rather small but gorgeous, was empty. I took a book with me, did a couple of lengths and used the sauna. Much needed after a week of client deadlines! It’s a members only pool, so be sure to contact the Audley Club for further info. Continuing with the ‘health’ theme, I’ve been doing a spot of yoga lately. My boyfriend goes to kickboxing and their club recently started a yoga morning every Saturday. It’s so great to properly stretch and I always feel so calm afterwards. Sessions cost around £6 in the Jewellery Quarter. It’s a great way to start your day.
Talking more on a not-so-healthy thing to do, Josh and I tried out one of our local curry houses, The Cottage Indian Restaurant in Stirchley. Just a short few minutes walk from our house, it’s certainly one of the better curry houses on the high street. The staff were attentive, and the food came really fast. No doubt this is one of the best Lamb Pasandas I’ve tried. Would highly recommend going here if a restaurant in the city centre doesn’t take your fancy! Also trying something ‘new’ ish – I cut my fringe back in. As Autumn is just around the corner, I wanted to channel the cosy vibes again and dye my hair a darker shade of purple. Surely I’m not the only one who loves snuggling up with blankets, candles and a big cup of tea when it’s raining outside?
Continuing with the food theme, I wanted to tell you more about a cute little pub in Warwick that serves the BEST black pudding scotch eggs. I had arranged to venture back into my former workplace in Warwick and meet some of my old colleagues for a natter. We hit one of the local pubs; I had a half pint of Guinness, and ended up with these delicious half portions of scotch eggs. The place is called the Zetland Arms and I would recommend this place for a quick bite to eat. It looks so amazing, right? Speaking of food, I headed to Lidl for a weekly shop this week and came away with this veggie box for just £1.50. An absolute steal and it prevents wonky veg like this going in the bin. Look out for the boxes in your local shop, but I’m aware not everywhere is selling them. This one is from Kings Heath, Birmingham.
Also this week, as you may have seen from my Instagram stories, we had new flooring put down in our lounge. We have the same style in our front room which now leads through to our second. We had a bit of a mishap with regard to measurements but it was all sorted in the end. We love having laminate down as it helps prevents the house from getting messy. Yesterday I curled up with a glass of wine and a film to enjoy our house slowly coming together. And lastly, the car boot sale! We left the house at 6:30 to discover our closest one was cancelled owing to the weather. So we took a deep breath and drove to the Furnace End car boot instead. We sold a heap of clothes, games, books, knick-knacks and ended up coming away with just under £90. Not bad for a days work, really. How have you spent your Bank Holiday weekend?
