It feels good to take a step back from our daily routine, doesn’t it? To do something a little different. I’ve recently learned that unplugging myself and breaking away with my best friends is possibly one of the most therapeutic things I can do . Last weekend, a group of us celebrated my best friend’s birthday. We drove to the Cotswolds on Friday afternoon and slept, ate and partied in a little house on the lake. The four-day weekend was absolute bliss, even more so since we didn’t have to set alarms for the next day.
You can see from the view itself that we were situated in one of the prettiest parts of the whole site. We stayed in the ‘Art House’ which overlooks other houses on the lake. We had four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a kitchen and a lounge between eight of us. Come night time, we drank gin, wine, champagne, ate food and listened to music until the early hours. It’s pretty hard not to wake up happy, especially when pulling the curtains back and seeing the beautiful lake outside your window.
We lazed by the onsite pool, dipped in and out of the steam room and sauna, and were all stupid enough to jump into the eco pool outside – which was horrifically cold. We all treated ourselves to massages and pampering sessions. A wonderful birthday meal was had and lots of bubbly was drank over the weekend. It’s pretty safe to say that we all had such a wonderful time and I’m glad we all had the chance to get away for my friend’s birthday. I’ll be honest, if I could, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
Now we are all back to reality, I’m finishing off my third book of the year, ‘Me Before You’. I can’t seem to put the book down. I like to put my lava lamp on, light a candle and snuggle into bed while reading now. It’s the perfect way to unwind after a long day and it feels good not to be on my phone all the time.
I also have some amazing news to share. My boyfriend and I are now officially looking at houses to buy. And with a little help, we are searching for our first home together. We hope to get the ball rolling with this very soon and we celebrated last night after work with some good food and wine. The lakehouse is situated in Cirencester, Cotswolds. You can book via Habitat Escapes.
I'm so glad you had an amazing time in the Cotswolds. Your house by the water looks stunning and I can imagine how relaxing this weekend must have been for you. Hope to speak soon xxx
