I started this month off by visiting my future husband at the theatre. Derren Brown never fails to amuse and stun audiences across the country. As Josh and I (the dedicated fans that we are) have already seen him four times, we kind of already know what to expect and what tricks he’s about to pull on stage. Nevertheless, it’s great to watch him perform new content and hear people gasp in amazement. One day, I’m hoping I will get to go up on stage with him – just to rub his cute little head and say hello!
I decided to treat myself to a new car last week. I’ve been driving my little Ford KA around since I was 18-years old, so I figured that it was definitely time for a change. My new Renault Megane is a black convertible, and I’ve already been driving around with the top down with the wind blowing through my blonde locks. I can’t wait for Summer drives, it’s going to be the best yet… road trip anyone?
I was kindly asked by Chung Ying Central, Birmingham, to come and try out their menu and cocktails one night after work. Situated on Colmore Row, I took a visit and ate their duck in plum sauce, BBQ Spare Ribs and Dim Sum. Considering I never knew the place even existed, it was a delicious treat and would definitely recommend a visit. I will be uploading my review shortly, so keep your eyes peeled.
This weekend also saw my boyfriend turning twenty-six. He’s such an old man and loves growing his own vegetables and using his BBQ Smoker. I treated him to lunch at Amantia, a Spanish and Mediterranean Bar where we consumed a lot of their tapas dishes. This is a new restaurant which has opened on Bennett’s Hill, Birmingham. Another must try if you are ever around the town. It’s a little pricey but worth it for special occasions. They even bought Josh out a special dessert with his name on!
What is a birthday date without cocktails at The Botanist. If you haven’t already been, this place is absolutely great for cocktails and quirky food. A place guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and they even serve non alcoholic cocktails for all you designated drivers.
Yesterday, I took a trip to a place called Akamba with a couple of my closest friends and their beautiful baby girl, Sophie. I’ve never been before, so it was a new experience for me. We ate lunch in this huge African themed hut (which blows hot air inside) and their sweet potato and cheese dish was absolutely fantastic for a lunch time treat! We delved into the bird sanctuary, and one specific bird named Charlie comes and sits on people randomly. He definitely took a liking to Rob and his head! It was such a lovely day out and I’m sure I’ll be returning soon to pet the life-size animal statues they have dotted around…
This month has been a successful one and I can’t wait to travel to Norway in a couple of weeks time for a holiday. What have you got planned for the rest of this month? Also, don’t forget I’m hosting a giveaway where you can win a pair of tickets to the biggest food festival in the country which comes to Birmingham this May. Click here to enter, it’s completely free and quick to enter. Good Luck!
WE CAN DRIVE AROUND WITH THE TOP DOWN.
Happy belated birthday Josh! Alex and I have planned a trip to The Botanist after I saw so many posts. Really intrigued and want to find out about this place. Love your new car, count me in for a road trip! I may sell my car in the summer, it needs to be repaired and pass MOT first and then I'm on a road trip to England. Yeah! Happy weekend xxx
